Friends of LLELA raises funds for a Lewisville Centennial Tree

Our deepest gratitude to all the donors who contributed to the campaign for a Friends of LLELA Lewisville Centennial Tree, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the city’s founding. A portion of membership fees received during the summer and early fall went to the campaign, and some people and groups donated directly to it.

Thanks to you, Friends of LLELA was able to purchase a sizeable chinquapin oak (Quercus muehlenbergii) through the Centennial program. It will be planted this fall in LL Woods Park. This 28.1-acre park is located at 1000 Arbour Way and is named for Lenard Levosha Woods, or LL Woods, the first African American on the Lewisville City Council, who was instrumental in setting the laws and regulations governing the City of Lewisville.
