Historic 1870s Minor-Porter log house
- Volunteers get to step back in time and welcome visitors to the historic Minor-Porter Log Cabin at LLELA.
- Some docents dress in period wear (or not) and showcase the pioneer life to visitors. This log home dates back to 1869 and was moved to its LLELA location from Highland Village.
- The homestead grounds also have a relocated smokehouse and corn crib, along with a dugout house, which was built on the property.
- The cabin is open to the public every third Saturday of the month (except July and August) from noon to 3 pm.
- Watch in December for “Christmas at the Cabin.” Activities include pine cone birdfeeders, evergreen wreaths, candle making, cornhusk dolls and many more crafts from the 1800’s. Plus cabin tours, live homestyle music, and free hot apple cider in a cup you get to keep.
