Friends of LLELA lecture:

Birding 101 with Scott Keister

Saturday, November 22, from 10 am to noon

  • There is no cost for the event itself, but the entrance fee to LLELA is $5 per vehicle, payable by credit card or Lewisville parks pass.

LLELA: 201 E. Jones St. in Lewisville

  • Enter LLELA at the corner of Jones and Kealy.
  • LLELA is not accessible via Fish Hatchery Road from Hwy 121. Map apps often get it wrong.
  • Please note potential detours.

LLELA Education Building

  • Take first right after the gatehouse, park by the picnic tables, and go to the back left building

Ever see a bird outside your kitchen window, or hear something in the trees and wonder what it was? A birding class with Scott Keister will give you a start on the skills and knowledge to find the answer. Being a good birder isn’t magical, although going out with an experienced birder on their home turf might seem like it.

To get you on the road to obsession, Keister will share:

  • Tools and tips to get you started
  • Insider knowledge of where to bird at LLELA
  • Migratory birds that winter at LLELA
  • Best times to birdwatch
  • Migration seasons

From there, sky’s the limit.

Scott has been a certified Texas Master Naturalist since 2003 and an Audubon Master Birder for North Central Texas since 2017. Active in the Elm Fork Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalists, Scott is the TMN volunteer project manager for LLELA and coordinates volunteer opportunities. He is a founding member of the Friends of LLELA.

Register.
