Tarantulas are terrific and LLELA has them. So does Erika Swyryn and the Texas Master Naturalist will be bringing some of the tarantulas of Texas for you to see and touch. These large, long-lived arachnids range from dime-sized to dinner plate and come in a variety of colors and hairiness. She will enthrall with fascinating facts and stories about these wonderful creatures.

Erika earned a B.S. in biology at UTA. As a nature lover, she was delighted to become an active member of both the Texas Master Gardeners and the Texas Master Naturalists. She acquired her first tarantula during the pandemic and fell in love with these often misunderstood and feared creatures. That colony of one spider quickly grew into over 100, which have joined her extensive crew of animals at home.
