First 2025 Friends of LLELA general meeting was great success!

The turnout for our first 2025 Friends of LLELA general meeting was fabulous — we filled the room at Thrive and then some! Of course, we had a great draw — author/playwright/actor David Marquis, reading from his books The River Always Wins and The River of Goodness. Mesmerizing! More on his books here. 
  • Amy Martin did a slide show of parks and preserves along the Elm Fork from her book Wild DFW: Explore the Amazing Nature Around Dallas-Fort Worth to further the river theme.
  • LLELA’s Interpretive Park Ranger Addy France led teams in a hilarious game of LLELA facts in the fashion of Jeopardy.
  • Friends of LLELA president Scott Kiester gave a rundown of our incredible achievements in 2024 and what’s in store for 2025.
  • Dixie Westbrook presented a review of The Serviceberry by Robin Wall Kimmerer.
